The first week has certainly flown by for our Japanese guests. They have partaken in many new and exciting activities with the Mayfield children (who are thoroughly enjoying spending time with their new Japanese friends) including
Aboriginal painting, sports, Japanese charades , Aussie food tasting with lots more to come.
Our visitors also had perfect weather when they went to Tangalooma overnight. They had a great time feeding the dolphins and enjoying all the other activities over there.
This week our visitors went to Paradise Country for some cuddles with koalas, try some damper and billy tea plus lots of other things. They will also visit the city by ferry for some sightseeing and of course shopping. More exciting class activities are also planned.
Tuesday is the Japanese Festival which includes lots of Japanese games, arts and crafts which the Mayfield children will thoroughly enjoy.
On Friday, 7 August at 2.00 pm is the farewell parade. Lots of new friendships will have been made over the two weeks and it will be sad to say “see you later”. For some Mayfield children they will be renewing their friendships when they travel to Japan next year to experience first hand their culture. How exciting!
Everyone is welcome to attend the parade (and any of the meetings) regardless of whether you are hosting or not as our guests would love to catch up with the parents of their new friends. Just make sure you bring a few tissues.
