School Safety

As you would be aware there have been a number of bomb threats received by schools across Queensland over the past days.  Although Queensland Police Service (QPS) have stated that there was “no credible evidence the threats could be carried out”, we do need to take these threats seriously and ensure the safety of our students and staff. The QPS are working closely with Education Queensland to ensure safety in all schools.

Should there be a threatening call received at Mayfield SS we will be contacting Queensland Police Service immediately along with advising EQ Regional Services and enacting our emergency evacuation procedures

Our Emergency evacuation procedures have students and staff evacuate their classrooms and assemble on the school oval. All students will have practised their evacuation by Thursday morning.

Considering our current hot weather conditions students will be advised to keep water bottles and hats at their desks that they can take with them should there be the need to evacuate.

Please be assured that we will provide every avenue of support to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of everyone in our school. Their safety will not be comprised.

The health and wellbeing of all our students and staff remains our highest priority.

Thank you.

Doug Lange

Principal
