CBCA Book Week
Each year, across Australia, The CBCA brings children and books together celebrating Children’s Book Week. During this time Schools, Libraries, Booksellers, Authors, Illustrators and children celebrate Australian Children's Literature Book Character Parade. Book Week takes place 19 -23 August 2024.
Our annual Mayfield State School Book Character Parade will take place on Monday the 19th August 9.00am in the MACCA.
The theme for this year is Reading is Magic
Students are asked to get in the spirit of Book Week by coming dressed as their favourite book character for a special fun filled parade.
We also would ask that your child bring along a copy of the book that their character is from. We have seen some amazing costumes in the past from students and teachers and hope this year will be just as great!
FAQ: Do
the students stay in their costumes after Book Character Parade?
If your child’s costume is not appropriate for school wear e.g. sleeveless shirts,
strappy or midriff tops, long skirts, challenging clothing for classroom or playground,
jewellery or something precious. Please bring the child’s uniform and shoes for
them to change into after the book character parade concludes.
Remember that Mayfield SS students are required to wear sun
safe clothing and closed in shoes while they are at school.
